I was last weekend in Banff for a workshop within the WC2N. WC2n stands for the Western Canadian Cryospheric Network. For the first time I attended a workshop within this network and I have to say, great people, great spirit, we really all did make good new connections and shared a whole bunch of good ideas.
Now the reason I write is actually that this event allowed me to visit Banff once again and this time round I got all the fine Autumn colors.

It is really a good time of the year to visit Banff. To demonstrate that, here is what we experienced on Thursday, last week, when we (Faron, Christian and me) went up to Lake Louise for a brief touristic hike. We just reached the end of the lake on our way up to the "teahouse", when suddenly some German tourists came our way and asked us, if we saw the Grizzly bears on the other side. Well of course there were 3 of them up there on the other side of the lake. So you can spend a good 10 days in Summer in Banff and not see a thing, but when you come in autumn, well be aware. ;-) Further on our way up we also saw some mountain goats just a few hundred meters above the trail. So much for the wild spirit in Banff.
On Saturday, the last day of the conference we even got snow in the village. That made the already existing winter-feeling perfect. Here the photo of the dining hall at the Banff center and the view from there.

So as you can see, always worth going to Banff...
